Flavorpill Media has been curating and contributing to culture since 2000. As an online publisher based in Soho, NYC, we cover events, art, books, music, wellness, and pop culture the world over. Highbrow, lowbrow, and everything in between: if it's compelling, we're exploring it. Our agency arm, Cultivate, creates original branded experiences both online and offline for top-shelf clients, engaging our community — and beyond — in inventive ways.
We believe in democratizing progressive culture. Our mission is to empower you to lead a more extraordinary life by connecting you to culture, people, and ideas that inspire you.
Sascha Lewis and Mark Mangan launched Flavorpill as a simple, text-based email highlighting their favorite events of the week, way back in 2000. What began as a way to encourage NYC friends to get off the couch and explore their city has grown to include (at present) two comprehensive online media properties, a dynamic creative services agency, and 40+ full-time employees. As Sascha likes to say, "onwards and upwards!"
Flavorwire is your go-to for contemporary cultural news and commentary, bringing you timely coverage and incisive analysis of today's most provocative films, music, books, TV shows, and more, featuring original essays and reported stories. Our Flavorwire email digest delivers a daily dose of culture right to your inbox.
Flavorpill: where it all began. The site (and email newsletter) is like your super plugged-in friend (you know the one) that always knows what's going on. We want to inspire you to make the most of your free time — by sharing the most rewarding cultural events to attend, the best movies to stream, which albums we're hyped for, and more.
We pride ourselves on working with advertising partners to elevate their brand while staying true to our community. Original out-of-home activations, branded events, native content, and more straightforward digital advertising packages bring our partnerships to life, while providing compelling content for our audience. Email us to request a case study, media kit, or power lunch.
Operating as Flavorpill Media's in-house agency, Cultivate works with advertising partners to tell your brand's story in a creative way guaranteed to resonate with our audience, and beyond. What this looks like: surprise halftime shows with game-time GrubHub deliveries (Pepsi), in-depth maker profiles and video content (HP), lunchtime dance parties (ABSOLUT), a pop-up art gallery and salon series (Cole Haan), and an auction to benefit AIDS nonprofit DIFFA (Patrón), to name but a few. Examples below!
Pepsi: We made 54 deliveries featuring surprise halftime shows (complete with band & cheerleaders!) during NFL playoffs.
HP: We gave two makers in the Renegade Craft Fair community the new Sprout by HP to see how they'd maximize the machine's creative tech.
ABSOLUT: Lunch Break was a super-charged, 60-minute dance party, bringing nightlife to noontime coast to coast, with help from DJs like Questlove, Jazzy Jeff, and Peanut Butter Wolf.
Cole Haan: We built a pop-up Inspiration Lab during New York Fashion Week, offering complimentary coffee, workshops by Skillshare leaders, and a panel discussion starring next-gen creatives. Plus: an installation by The Sketchbook Project!
Patrón: We commissioned custom barware from American artisans, then auctioned them off to benefit AIDS and design nonprofit DIFFA.
Honda: We organized morning yoga classes in 4 world-class art museums, including The Getty & the Brooklyn Museum. Each was led by an acclaimed instructor and soundtracked by DJs including Marques Wyatt and Jason Bentley (KCRW).
